Wifaqa

Wifaqa is still being built. Signing up and writing your story are free while it is, and nothing can cost you anything until I say plainly that it does. Introductions and payments open soon.

Why I built this

Assalamu alaikum. I’m Nihal.

I built Wifaqa after my own search: thousands of profiles to browse, a few messages sent, most never answered, and after a while a real feeling of hopelessness.

I am getting married soon, alhamdulillah, and I would like to spare other people what I went through. So I built the opposite: you describe yourself once, properly, the searching happens without you, and what reaches you is a small number of people you could genuinely consider, with your wali present if you are a woman.

I run Wifaqa on my own, for Muslims anywhere in the world. It is not a registered company or a registered charity, it is still in development, and I cannot promise anyone a match or a marriage.

On purpose

What Wifaqa refuses to do.

No browsing.
There is no catalogue of people, no search and no messaging strangers. Nobody should be scrolled past.
No pressure.
No streaks, no counts of who viewed you, no urgency and no nudges. Pause new recommendations, or leave, without explaining yourself.
No invented numbers.
No member counts, no success stories, no testimonials and no compatibility percentages. When something is not open yet, the site says so.

My dua

That everyone looking for marriage the halal way, and keeping themselves from the haram, is granted a righteous spouse, whether they ever use Wifaqa or not.

وَجَعَلۡنَٰكُمۡ شُعُوبٗا وَقَبَآئِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوٓاْ

“And made you into peoples and tribes so that you may get to know one another.”
Al-Hujurat · 49:13 · Meaning from Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran. Excerpt.

Half is a promise. At least half of each year’s profit, after costs and tax, goes to registered charities, and I publish the accounts every quarter. The rest keeps Wifaqa running and growing.

One day I would like this to be my actual job, so I can build more things for the Ummah.
